Nearby Attractions

You are at the historical heart at its best, next to the cathedral and the best viewpoint of town. In the oldest district of Lisbon, Alfama, just beside the shopping area, an ideal walk to the going out areas and all major attractions, but also to upcoming artist neighborhoods. With trams and busses in front you can go tons of places. Several metro stops close by bring you to other wonderful places.

Sé Cathedral 


Just around the corner is the famous cathedral Sé, built in 1147 and recognisable at its medieval rose window. A nice place for a coffee to see the tram 28 turn in front.

Miradouro Santa Lucia


At 50 metres of the apartment, how better to see Lisboa than on its best decorated view point ("miradouro"). Savour the city's wonderful colours and spectacular view of the river Tagus ("Rio Tajo").

Bars, restaurants, cafés


The choice of all of these is vast in Lisbon. From a traditional meal to a luxury savoury, you will find tons of places to go close to Casa Augusto Rosa. 

Elevador Santa Justa

A must see downtown is the Santa Justa iron lift built in 1901 and recently beautifully renovated. It connects Baixa to Chaido and is 45m high (covers 7 floors). Close to the top there is the ruins of the Carmo convent with a nice view from a newly built bar.

Praça do Comércio


The main square of town is a 10 minutes walk. The famous arch is the entrance to the shopping street Rua Augusta. You see the castle and the cathedral Sé in the back. 

Enjoy the view on the other end over the Tagus river.



If you like nightlife, you will be catered for, mainly in weekends. Alternative or commercial, small or big, our home is walking distance to the Cais do Sodre area with Musicbox, Principe Real with gay bars, Bairro Alto with small dancefloors for all, or to the east with big venues as Lux or Eka Palace.

Gulbenkian museum


For modern architecture lovers this is a must-see. The collections range from ancient Egypt to 16th and mid 20th century art. The collection of René Lalique jewels and glass is amazing.

Pasteis de Nata


If you love it sweet, you will love these little cakes. We got as far as saying "a pasteis a day keeps the doctor away". Famous ones are in Belem but in town there is many who have been making them for a long time and Manteigaria is a delicious new place to savour them hot. You can add some cannelle or sugar on top for even more extra flavour.



You are 30 mins by car or 1 hour by boat and bus from the nature reserve of Caparica beach. You can go for a family beach, a nudist beach, a gay beach or anything in between.

Family beaches can be reached quickly by train. Visit Cascais, Carcavelos or Estoril famous coastal cities.



As rich as the history of the city is the history of its stores. The Bertrand Book Store is the oldest in the world (1732). You will find a lot of speciality stores: a store selling only woollens, or only candles, another selling dress accessories, or only iron objects, and lots more small shops with in-depth knowledge of their products. There is a lot of libraries There is an increase in Made In Portugal stores, with traditional and contemporary articles from around the country, ideal for souvenirs.
