A classic
Alpendre is a typical "tasca", with a fridge in the window, lots of light, a feeling of coming home, funny waiters and delicious food. Their sea food is yummy. Quality at reasonable price.

A deco experience
Estrela da Sé was opened as an eating house in 1857, and from generation to generation in the same family it became a very unique place in this part of Lisbon, with regular and loyal customers, for many of whom it was a second home. The interior is authentic and ever so charming. Food is traditional Portuguese. They don't accept reservations nor credit cards.

Contemporary & refined
Prado is thé new place in town. Hidden in a street nearby the apartment they started in 2017 with modern twists on classic Portuguese cuisine. They even opened a beautiful grocery store closeby (grab a souvenir). Check their beautiful website where you can easily reserve a table (really needed, quite some time in advance). Does come with small portions and snobby attitude.

Cheap, traditional, white
Santa Rita is a favorite for students and groups. It is cheap and serves traditional Portuguese mama food. If you don't mind noise and want a meal served quickly with no bad surprises, this is your place to be.

Breakfast, brunch
Check our special breakfast page.
Closest by (and delicious) is in front of our apartment, Break Sé ( Rua Saudade 2A ). Quase café ( Rua do Salvador 32) is a nice option for a good breakfast. Another option is the newly opened, more minimal Dear Breakfast ( Largo de Santo António da Sé 16 ).
Artisanal icecream
Gelato Therapy is the place you'll walk by regularly when visiting downtown. And it will be hard not to stop each time as their original mix of flavors and home made delicious quality is not as famous as Santini or Davvero but definitely as good.

Tapas
An former sweet antiques dealer decided to transform his store into restaurant Café Pit. Mainly known for tapas and it's cute tables and chairs. Ideal for a quick bite while working your way up to the castle :) And really just next door of the apartment. Does come slightly overpriced.

At home
The closest supermarket is Pingo Doce ( Largo Chão do Loureiro ). If you would like better quality, go to Mercado Da Figueira ( Praça da Figueira 10 ). But we advice to go to specialty stores for wine, cheese, pastries etc. like Manuel Tavares ( Rua da Betesga 1AB ) or Confeitaria Nacional ( Praça da Figueira 18B ).
